News from the Kitchen @ The Salvation Army (7-28-10)

I opened our doors about an hour early today. I wanted to get people out of the sun that were already waiting to come in for lunch.

We served 122 meals today. I had 4 volunteers for the morning duites and 2 volunteers to help with the clean-up. We had a very pleasureable time in the dinning room today.

We had farm fresh corn to give out as well.

Today's menu: Homemade Sloppy Joes (meat donated from Dillons), Corn on the Cob (donated from Voight Farms), fresh salad with dressings, fruit cocktail and drinks. Oddly, we recieved no pastries and I don't think anyone missed it. I think - It's to hot for desserts.

Tonight for the Warming & Cooling Program meal we are having Chili, cereal with milk, pinapple, instant Mac & Cheese, Bread, Crackers and drinks.
