Who's Walking With Me?
- on March 30, 2011
OK, is it just me or is there absolutely no excuse to NOT feel encouraged to get out and walk this spring in our community?! The weather is even improving this week.
First, I was persuaded to put together a team for Walk Kansas. We are feverishly (well, maybe not always) logging our minutes and counting our fruits/vegetables and whole grains. Check out Walk Kansas for more info. Walk Kansas runs through mid-May. I’m sure they would still let you sign up!
Second, I was reminded in an e-mail earlier today that this Friday is National Walk to Work Day. No fooling! And, if your commute is too far to walk; at least consider walking to lunch with a friend or taking an extra break at work to walk.
Third, I saw where I can learn more about the importance of daily activity by going to the “10,000 Steps A Day” session at LMH this Saturday (April 2) from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Call LMH Connect Care at 785.749.5800 by Friday morning for more information and to let them know you’ll be there.
There are other one-day events encouraging people to get outside including Earth Day events and the Health Care Access half marathon and shorter “fun” runs in April.
So I’m thinking that Lawrence is really cheering me on to get active. Who’s going to be out walking with me?
