Everything does look delicious, especially those peaches. WOW!!
However, I am concerned about the weekly stories and pictures that appear in this section, amount to what may be seen as "Free advertising" and alot of it for this farmers market. Once in a while it may sound like news, but every week it looks alot like free advertising.

consumer1... this is a good question to bring up and a discussion that should be had. I do write these weekly articles about the Farmers Market on Wellcommons to "advertise" the market - which is at its base, a capitalistic venture - But the fact is clear, if more people eat more fresh produce we will be a healthier society, in many ways. Furthermore, the more dollars we spend with local farmers, the more local farmers we will have and the more fresh nutritious local produce we will have. Is it wrong to advertise something that will help the health of us and our community on this blog site or should we only talk about things that do not involve the transfer of monetary goods from one entity to another? How do others feel about this? Am I providing a community service by writing these weekly posts or am I abusing the site by garnering free advertising for the market vendors?

in my opinion, it's not an abuse of the site. You *ARE* covering the market, with pictures and things, and advertising that it exists, but you don't prefer one vendor over another, and you don't list prices or anything. I don't pay a lot of attention, but the articles I've seen (all for the Farmer's Market) I think are a great service. :)

llc, I don't really have a problem with the market, because you are not blatently advertising your personal for profit business. True people come to the business for the market and I am sure that garner's some increased business at your store. But, I also see the good community service you are providing. Your store has been a locally owned asset in Lawrence for decades and I promote more owner operaters. I don't see any ill intent with your stories. Please continue to offer this tasty opportunity for us all.
