We have some summer events to raise funds to keep our counseling available free, 24/7. And to help people learn that we're here for times when they or someone they know need "life support."
You can help as an event volunteer or as a participant!
On Saturday June 19, under the leadership of cyclist Tyler Staples, we had a fabulous Life Support Rally - a bicycle and walk event. Bicyclists chose routes from 12-50 miles. Walkers had a delightful 3 mile stroll. Volunteers helped in a variety of ways before, during, and after the event. Most exciting of all were the volunteers who "cleared the course" before the heavy rains began. All cyclists and bikes were transported back to registration! It was a fun event!
We have golf events coming up next. Lawrence Amateur Golf Association www.lawrencegolf.org has the City Tournament on the weekend of July 10-11. They also have an event specifically to raise funds for our services, the Life Support scRamble on Friday August 20. Sponsors get signage at both events, and proceeds let us keep helping kids, teens, and adults. Volunteers are needed for all three days. Interested in golfing? Go to www.lawrencegolf.org for registration info. Interested in volunteering one of those days? Email Kristine at hqdov.lawrence.ks.us Thanks!
