Why wait until after the New Year to get healthy? Why not plan ahead and take the steps that may save your life today. Hy-Vee on 6th Street will be hosting Stroke Detection Plus on December 28th from 9am to 4:30pm. Stroke Detection offers 4 life saving screenings; stroke screening which will visualize the buildup of fatty blockage in the carotid arteries, abdominal aortic aneurysm visualizes the existence of an aneurysm in the abdominal aorta that can rupture and be fatal, peripheral arterial disease which checks for blockage in the legs and results can indicate high risk of coronary artery disease and peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis which will test for abnormal bone density for both men and women and can help prevent osteoporosis with early detection and treatment. These screenings are being offered for an affordable price at 3 screenings for $100, 4 screenings for $105 or $45 per individual screening. These types of screenings would cost anywhere from $300 to $400 per test in the hospital setting and a doctor usually cannot order these without a patient showing signs or symptoms. It is estimated that two thirds of stroke victims did not show any warning signs, the goal of the screening is to alert people of a health risk that might otherwise go undetected and to inform them of the need for follow-up with their physician. Screenings are done in less than 10 minutes and results are mailed to participants within 14 days.
If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in please call 877-732-8258 to schedule your screening today! Space is limited and appointments are necessary. If you have any further questions about the screening please feel free to call and talk to anyone of our pharmacy staff members. We look forward to seeing you on December 28th.
