Independence, Inc. recently received a new accessible van which will provides rides for people with disabilities. The van was funded through KDOT and the Douglas County Community Foundation. Independence, Inc. provides door-to-door weekday transportation throughout Douglas County and weekly transportation to medical appointments in Topeka and Kansas City.
The transportation program allows people with disabilities to get to work, shop for groceries, and be active in the community. Rides cost a $2.00 donation each way, and must be scheduled in advance by calling 841-0333.
