This is a very good idea. But courses in typing and basic computers should be offered throughout the year, not just in February. And typically many mothers or fathers who want to learn typing or basic computer skills often don't have a lot of money, so the rides should be shared and cost less.
Also, used computers that work fine should be offered, with monitors. There are a lot of these around that would serve people well.

Lawrence,
Thank you for your comment, we are happy to have Ryan McHugh, our new intern on board to teach classes. We do not have the funds to permanently employ a staff position throughout the year, so we rely on interns, like Ryan, and other community volunteers to help teach computer classes. We agree that classes should be offered more often, and we would love to do so. Do you know anyone interested in teaching classes? If so, please pass me their information.
As for the rides, consumers of the class do not have to use our accessible transportation, it is one of many options they have in the community (others include the T, T-lift, Douglas County Senior Services, etc...) to get to the class. The standard $2 donation is how our transportation system keeps running.
I am unsure what your last comment means, do you know where there are computers that would be able to be donated? We certainly do not have computers like you mention available. The only computers we have our the ones our staff use, and then the computers in the computer lab-used for classes and open use. If you know where these are offered, again, please let me know.
Thank you!
