KU Environs is partnering with Films For Action to present a film screening of King Corn at Liberty Hall. King Corn is a documentary that exposes the industrialization of corn and its effect on farmers, our environment, health and economy.
Simran Sethi, journalist and KU professor, will speak before the movie, and Curt Ellis, one of the filmmakers, will participants for a short Skype Q&A afterward. There will be gifts at the event of local food and gift certificates from local businesses. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There is a $3 suggested donation - 70% of all proceeds will go to Just Food - providing food for hungry families in Douglas County.
If you donate $3, you will receive a raffle ticket and be eligible for one of two $50 gift certificates to Tellers, one $25 gift certificate to Pachamamas, three $25 gift certificates to the Merc, one paid cooking class for two at the Merc, Cottins gift cards, and so many more! There will also be Chipotle free burrito gift cards at the door for everyone!
