For the third year in a row, Just Food, the food bank in Douglas County will be the recipients of food donated by fans of Kansas Basketball at Late Night at the Phog.
There will be bins around the outside of Allen Fieldhouse and fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to fight hunger and give hope to residents of Douglas County as they line up to attend Late Night.
"We are so grateful for the partnership of United Way and KU Athletics that allows us to do this," Jeremy Farmer, Just Food Executive Director said. "Growing up in Lawrence and still being a die hard KU fan, with being able to partner that passion with the mission of fighting hunger and giving hope to people in Douglas County is a perfect fit for me. I am hoping it will be a perfect fit for others who will be attending as well."
The food that is received at Late Night at the Phog will be collected on site by Just Food volunteers and brought back to their warehouse at 1200 E. 11th Street. The food donated at the event will be shared with other partner organizations in Douglas County.
