We all know we are supposed to eat five fruits and vegetables a day. My girls are young and, with a family history of hypoglycemia (I have it and so does my father), we try to eat five small meals a day. That means an entire serving or fruits or vegetables at each meal.
Every breakfast and snack as well as lunch and dinner must contain a full serving of fruits or vegetables. With the new MyPlate.gov guidelines it is clear we should eat more vegetables than fruit. But we knew that.
Knowing something is completely different than getting picky children to go along with it just because you said so. I would love to see you try.
So we cook together. The girls really are more likely to try something if they helped make it. I am working on getting them to eat this family favorite:
Audrey is starting to try new foods but Maurene still needs to see something on her plate 10-15 times before she will consider eating it. This salad is so good I think it is worth the effort.
Do you have any foods you are trying to get a family member to enjoy or something you would like to eat more of yourself?
