Douglas County Bank is having a fundraiser and diaper drive through the end of March to benefit tiny-k Early Intervention, which provides supports and services for children, ages birth to 3 who have special needs.
The bank is selling baby-themed cutouts for $1 at its branch locations. Becca Booth, marketing manager, said the bank's goal is to raise $1,000 and it's nearly halfway there.
"We would love any donations from the public," she said.
The bank is also collecting donations of diapers — size one through pull-up style — and baby wipes.
"Families who have kiddos with special needs have exorbitant medical costs," Booth said. "The things that we can do to help is to provide just little things for them like diapers and wipes that can get pretty expensive. It's just an extra thing that they don't have to worry about as they are dealing with everything else that's on their plate."
Bank locations are:
• Ninth and Kentucky streets.
• Bob Billings Parkway and Kasold Drive.
• 31st and Iowa streets.
• Sixth Street and Folks Road.
• Bob Billings Parkway and Inverness Drive.
• 23rd and Louisiana streets.
Each year the staff of Douglas County Bank supports nonprofit organizations through quarterly bank-driven activities. The bankers chose tiny-k Early Intervention as the focus for the first quarter of 2012.
Tiny-k Early Intervention works with parents and child care providers to help them learn strategies and carry out interventions. It also provides free developmental screenings to children, ages birth to 3 years old, in Douglas County.
