The 3rd Annual Kids Summer Fun Fair brings together over 30 local organizations to highlight camps, classes, and special programs for kids over the summer. This free community event takes place on April 20, 2013 from 10am to 2pm at the Community Building at 115 W. 11th. St.
Part carnival and part info fair, families can expect games and hands-on activities, performances and demonstrations, and will be able to interact directly with the people who offer kids programs and services year round. In fact, the Kids Summer Fun Fair is a unique opportunity to see, all in one place, the creativity and enthusiasm Lawrence has for kids and families.
“I am continually amazed at the wealth of fun activities and programs in our community,” said Beth McKeon, publisher of the Lawrence Kids Calendar. “The Kids Summer Fun Fair is the best place to see for yourself, in person, all the fun that is available this summer.”
Among the thirty-plus organizations participating, well-known institutions like the Lawrence Public Library, Lawrence Arts Center, and Theatre Lawrence will be on hand to share information and offer fun activities. However, the Kids Summer Fun Fair is also the place to discover small and newly-created businesses that specialize in kids programs.
Each hour, there will be a performance or demonstration. Included in the performance schedule is Storytime Live! with Pet World, dancers from Amanda’s Dance Academy, a soccer demo from Lawrence HappyFeet Legends, and a staged sword play demo from Swashbuckler Events.
“This is more than just an info fair or a carnival. It’s a celebration of Lawrence,” McKeon said.
This event is hosted by the Lawrence Kids Calendar and sponsored by Lawrence Parks and Recreation and La Petite Academy. More information can be found at http://www.lawrencekids.net/funfair/.
