The University of Kansas Weight Management Program is dedicated to helping participants lose weight AND maintain that loss over time. Our comprehensive program focuses on the cornerstones of successful evidence-based weight maintenance through nutrition, physical activity, and permanent changes in lifestyle and behavior.
KU Weight Management Program length:
Phase I: Initial weight loss phase, 12 weeks total (other programs available upon completion) Weekly meetings: Group meetings are an integral part of the program. Format includes: demonstrations, open discussions, group support, record-keeping, assignments and accountability.
Diet: The diet consists of shakes, pre-packaged entrees, fruits and vegetables. Participants typically lose 10 to 15% of their body weight in the first 15 weeks and rarely report hunger during the weight loss phase.
Physical Activity: Physical activity starts very low and progresses throughout the program.
Cost: There will be a one-time $50 materials fee. 50% off materials fee in January! Fees include an $80 class fee every four weeks plus weekly food costs (HMR shakes and entrees) range from $80 -$90 per week.
