How can you receive these benefits?
The University of Kansas Weight Management Program is dedicated to helping participants lose weight AND maintain that loss over time. Our comprehensive program focuses on the cornerstones of successful evidence-based weight maintenance through nutrition, physical activity, and permanent changes in lifestyle and behavior.
KU Weight Management Program length: 24 weeks weight loss (Phase I) with opportunity for additional ongoing weight maintenance phase (Phase II) after Phase I concludes. Weekly meetings include: demonstrations, open discussions, group support, record-keeping, assignments and accountability.
Diet: The diet consists of shakes, pre-packaged entrees, fruits and vegetables. Participants typically lose 10 to 15% of their body weight in the first 15 weeks and rarely report hunger during the weight loss phase.
Physical Activity: Start at 45 minutes of physical activity a week and increase up to 300 minutes a week through our guided support.
Cost: There will be a one-time $50 materials fee. Fees include an $80 class fee every four weeks plus weekly food costs (HMR shakes and entrees) range from $80 -$90 per week.
