With so many exciting farm to school projects taking root all over the state, it's tough to keep track.
We've recently launched the Sprouting Healthy Kids: Cultivating farm to school in Kansas site with the hope of compiling profiles and contact information for all of the programs in the state.
The site also has resources from the Sprouting Healthy Kids workshop held in Kansas City on July 27. The gathering of school nutrition professionals, school garden practitioners, farmers and local food distributors was co-sponsored by the Kansas Rural Center, Bistro Kids, University of Missouri Extension and the National Center for Appropriate Technology.
Bistro Kid's Chef Kiersten Firquain and I serve as Kansas Co-Leads for the National Farm to School Network. State leads are charged with keeping a pulse on farm to school activities in the state as well as providing referrals and technical assistance. We also do our best to keep everyone up to date with funding and educational opportunities. To be sure you don't miss a thing, you might want to like the Kansas Farm to School Facebook Page and subscribe to the blog's feed.
If your farm to school program lacks a profile or needs to be updated, please let us know.
To add a F2S Profile, please send the following information:
- Project Name:
- School Name and City:
- Project Description:
- Project Web site or Blog Address:
- Project Contact:
Photos and video are encouraged, just be sure you have permission to post images on the web especially those that include minors.
Looking forward to keeping track of the amazing work being done in Lawrence and beyond!

I hope you also post the resources and the program profiles in the resources section of this group, Mercedes. The more places you post, the more people you'll reach! And in the resources section here, people will be able to add information in the comments.
Be sure to repost this information into other groups in WellCommons. There are plenty of people who'd like to hear about this great program!
