Now that summertime is in full swing, kids are getting restless and parents are getting weary. Of course, there is the community pool, summer camps, sports teams and endless parks and recreational activities, but sometimes, it just seems like the same old summer routine week after week. Now is the time to try something new! Turn your middle school student onto some weed pulling, bug squashing, vegetable picking fun!
Central Garden, located at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School, 1400 Massachusetts Street, is offering an educational, tan enhancing, socially stimulating good time to all. Students are invited to meet Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 am – 11:30 am and Saturdays from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Students are also welcome to join the Central Garden booth at Cottin’s Hardware Farmers Market, Thursdays from 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm.
Central Garden activities are open to all Central students, new and old. Students do not need to participate on a daily basis, but regular participation is encouraged. All activates are supervised by a paid staff member, Laura Leonard, and parents are welcome to join the fun or send their students to the garden on their own.
Produce from the garden is being eaten by the students or sold at Cottin’s Hardware Farmers Market to help sustain the garden. Once school starts up again, the garden produce will be used in the school cafeteria, as well as several classrooms.
Don’t let your student miss out on this wonderful opportunity. Send them to Liberty Memorial Central Middle School this summer to participate in the Central Garden. They will be glad they did, and so will you!
