Did you know that each year, over 12.7 million people receive a cancer diagnosis and 7.6 million people die from the disease?
If no action is taken, the worldwide cancer burden is expected to reach 26 million new diagnoses and 17 million deaths by the year 2030, with the most rapid increases occurring in low- and middle-income countries. However, it’s not all bad news as 30-40% of cancers can be prevented, and one-third of cancers can be cured through early diagnosis and treatment. Visit the attached website to understand how you can take steps to prevent cancer and live a healthier and longer life

It's never good when I receive a phone call from a family member early on a Saturday morning. Although I am awake, nobody else in my family is what I would consider a "morning person".
Only moments after posting this World Cancer Day story I received a phone call informing me my Uncle, a wonderful, funny, passionate man has just been diagnosed with advanced cancer and has less than six months to live. What an unexpected blow to his family. He had been on his annual RV trip south when he returned home late this week because he wasn't feeling well. Sadly this same thing happened to our family just 13 months ago with my Aunt. She only survived six weeks.
God bless my uncle, his wife, his daughters and grandchildren as they come to grips with this situtation and find the strength to be there for one another.

So sorry to hear about your uncle. On Monday, I will be posting a story about pancreatic cancer. I've learned a lot about that type of cancer, which is referred to as the "silent killer." Unfortunately, cancer affects too, too many people. That's why I participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. Also, looking forward to helping you raise awareness and money for Livestrong.
