It warmed my heart to see that on the Kid's menu at Ingredient a side of fruit is standard and you have to ask for fries. If every child had fruit instead of fries when they ate out it could save them 200-300 wasted calories(or more)/week and still keep them happy while adding another serving of fruit. What kid doesn't love fruit? All for $4.95.
For adults and willing kids, Ingredient offers an amazing array of fruits, vegetables and greens to use to build a salad, sandwich or pizza. There are 19 vegetables, 8 fruits, and 6 types of greens to choose from when you build a salad. The dressings include two fat free and two lowfat options.
The timing of adding Ingredient to LiveWell EatWell is particularly opportune as we read the results of a long term study of health professionals looking at their food choices, exercise and weight gain. Check out Jane Stevens' post for the details. Chips stood out as the biggest source of calories associated with weight gain. The solution is eating fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Way to go Ingredient! I didn't know that fries were available. Guess this explains why.

Ahhh. Ingredient. My favorite place for lunch. I'm stuck on sweet-leaf salad (with goat cheese instead of gorgonzola). Surrounded by such wonderful veggies and fruits, I've never even considered ordering fries. They seem out of place. You can get half-orders of salads, too, which I usually do.

Ingredient's success just goes to show that people do want healthy, delicious food. The helf salad sounds like an option that would be lighter on your pocketbook as well as light on calories.
I would love to see a whole grain roll.
