With milder weather and more daylight on the way, it is time to think about putting down that remote, getting off of the couch, and starting a walking program.
If you do better with a concrete goal, why not set a goal of doing the 5K at the Kansas Half Marathon on April 17. And when I say "doing the 5K," I mean walking it at your best comfortable pace.
Yes, that's right, you don't need to be a runner to participate. Last year, three friends and I signed up to walk this event, and the committment really helped us stick to our training schedule.
Here are the details:
The Health Care Access Clinic is hosting its 3rd annual Kansas Half Marathon Presented by Hy-Vee April 17, 2011 at the Shenk Sports Complex, 23rd and Iowa, in Lawrence beginning with the half marathon at 7:30am, followed by the 10K and 5K at 7:45am. For more information or to register go to www.kansashalfmarathon.com. All proceeds benefit Health Care Access Clinic, a healthcare home for the uninsured since 1988.
Hope to see you there.

Great idea. There's also a Walk Kansas program that starts in March. I will be posting something soon about that program.

Karrey, you beat me to the plug because I thought the same thing! What a great way to train for the Health Care Access 5K by participating in Walk Kansas. Go to http://www.douglas.ksu.edu/DesktopDef... to find out information on putting your Walk Kansas team together.
