The Douglas County Community Foundation is accepting applications for Community Wellness Grants of up to $15,000. The deadline for applications is Oct. 8.

Projects must aim to improve the health of Douglas County residents by making it easier for people to eat healthy foods and/or be physically active. Proposals should focus on creating meaningful, sustainable changes in everyday environments such as child care centers, schools, after-school programs, workplaces, neighborhoods and places of worship.

Ninety percentof the funding available in 2014 will be awarded to projects that target children and families. Applicants are required to attend one of three grant-seekers sessions scheduled on Sept. 16, 17 and 18. More information is available here.
