WorkWell Lawrence Symposium set for May 3

The seventh annual WorkWell Lawrence Symposium will be from 7:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 3, at the Lied Center of Kansas, 1600 Stewart Drive, Lawrence. The program will begin at 8 a.m.

The symposium, “The Tao of Ta-Da: Watch What Happens When Work Becomes Play,” will feature University of Kansas alumnus and motivational speaker Joel Zeff. In this interactive presentation, Zeff invites members of the audience to participate in improvisational exercises to help illustrate his central message: That organizations and individuals should celebrate everyday successes to increase collaboration, productivity, passion and innovation.

“I believe in fun at work,” Zeff said. “We will talk about the choices we make, how we collaborate, how to keep our passion up and stress down, how we deal with change and lead through change, how we stay in the game when we are met with challenges and how we create opportunities and positive support.”

Participants will be encouraged to help their workplace learn to:

  • Celebrate work and create a positive environment
  • Promote ownership and accountability
  • Encourage innovation by creating opportunity
  • Improve collaboration and teamwork
  • Enhance communication

“Joel is a nationally recognized presenter,” said WorkWell Lawrence Director Susan Johnson, of K-State Research and Extension-Douglas County. “This quality presentation, as well as the entertainment value, is generally what I have to attend a national conference to see and we are having the opportunity to host Joel right here in Lawrence. It will be well worth your time.”

Registration is $50. Register here. Download the event flier here.
