The Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority is encouraging resident children to ride their bikes every day in May.

“Every day they ride their bikes, whether it’s around the neighborhood, to school or a friend’s place, they get to put a tack up on our tracking board,” Early Childhood and Youth Specialist Mary Orem said. “At the end of the month, we’ll have a celebration and awards. We’re also encouraging families to bring their bikes in for tune-ups from our youth ‘Wrenching Crew,’ and 10 more adults will earn bikes when we host our second SPOKES adult commuter class and rodeo later this month.”
