By working directly for our patients we can provide modern primary care with old-fashioned service and high-tech amenities - including . . . .

  • 24/7 access to your personal physician by phone and email
  • Same-day visits
  • Extended length appointments (up to 1 hour!)
  • House calls
  • Discount lab and diagnostic testing (including some free)

  • Much More

We accept patients regardless of insurance status (including uninsured), health conditions, income or place of residence. Please see our website regarding how NeuCare works with "insurance".

Isn't all this typing a blatant advertisement for W. Ryan Neuhofel, DO, MPH and his practice?

To top it off, W. Ryan Neuhofel, DO, MPH has ELECTED to NOT participate with either Medicare or Medicaid. Fewer and fewer private practice outfits WILL accept Medicare or Medicaid NOT because the "....reimbursement rate is too low....." but because the businessman/woman (errrr....doctor?) simply wants to be get more money out of the patient.

When the patient is a Medicare or a Medicaid recipient, in most instances at any rate, they simply don't have the $$$$ (aka: CASH MONEY) to fork over. Great plan. Thanks for the help, W. Ryan Neuhofel, DO, MPH. Very curious way of FREE advertising too. Why does LJWorld permit this manner of hogwash?

1) Wellcommons.com is a sponsor supported (paid in the case of private business) venture. I am not unique in that regard here. It is clearly stated in every one of my blog entries (most of which are purely educational in nature) including this one . . . "NeuCare is a paid sponsor and advertisor of WellCommons.com and Lawrencemarketplace.com" (actually something I choose to do myself)

2) Yes, I have elected NOT to participate with any third-party health plans (public or private). . . so that I can charge LESS for my services, not MORE. In fact, I accept less money (30-70% less) for my services than what Medicare/Medicaid would reimburse me for equivalent care. If you are truly curious, compare my prices to the Medicare fee schedule.

3) The vast majority of my patients are uninsured (70%) or have high-deductible plans (10-20%) and pay out of pocket entirely for their care. For most of them, I am their only option for affordable, upfront health care. Many uninsured people do not qualify for safety-net clinics in town due to income, insurance or residency guidelines. I should know because I volunteer at Health Care Access on a regular basis and get many referrals from them.

So, in other words and to simplify the matter, you have specifically excluded Medicare and Medicaid recipients and have targeted people who pay cash money. The Medicare and Medicaid recipient is grossly restricted who what medical service they can access due to this manner of targeting. Let's take Medicare as an example: A person pretty much HAS to take for all practical purposes after age 65 (yes, taking Part B can be delayed, but they'll be paying a penalty premium the longer said person waits and the higher said penalty shall be the longer the person waits)....and the vast majority on Medicare are on a fixed income such that even the 20% co-pay from Medicare hits home hard. With fewer and fewer "doctors" willing to accept Medicare...well.....need Alceste go further?

Serving the uninsured is a GOOD thing; thank you. But excluding Medicare and Medicaid recipients is a very BAD thing. Why not do both? Just a thought.......shrug

Oh, and as for the Hull remark, it's Alceste's experience that every one person who speaks out, they're a bunch more thinking the same thing.....shrug shrug

It's actually quite difficult to "simplify the matter".

I have not excluded anyone from my practice "specifically" or otherwise. I have created a direct, sustainable option for my patients to avoid any third-party prerequisites to their primary care. Most doctors are entirely dependent upon health plans to continue a relationship with a patient. I am not and think it's a good thing for both them and myself.

Medicare contracted providers in private practice are NOT allowed to charge less or "give discounts" to anyone, including uninsured or cash-paying patients. Medicare considers it fraud - the illegal kind! Sure, any "Medicare" doctor can accept uninsured patients, but they must by law charge their "insurance-based" fees - which is $80-200 per standard visit) and procedures/labs in the $100s-$1000s of dollars.

It's actually shocking how much less I'm able to charge than "insurance" prices. I routinely do procedures, lab work and other things for 100% cash payment that is equivalent or less than a 20% copay. . . .including Medicare patients!

By the way, have you actually looked at my prices? I charge $10/20 per month to be a member and $20 for 15-minute visits. Labs mostly $10/20/30. Procedures $30-100. House calls $100. The only thing I charge more than $100 is an after-hours visit (like in the middle of the night). So, your assertion that I purely "want to be get more money" is well . . . shrug.

PS: Writing about Marcus Welby, MD, reminds me family helped START (as in takeoff.....) the AAGP which is now the AAFP....along with Mac Cahal and Roger Tuskin......; each are rolling over in their graves, although Cahal DID make a fortune.....
