Dear Gov Brownback,
Why is it that when the budget needs to be cut, the first place politicians look is social programs? I was recently informed that social workers at the SRS office in Overland Park have had more cuts and therefore, have been saddled with more than 700 clients per employee. Do any of the employees in any other branch of Kansas government have that much responsibility? I doubt it very seriously.
The budget cuts expected this year will take a system that is badly damaged and turn it into an unimaginable mess. Life for the estimated 13% of Kansans that are enrolled into the Medicaid program, is going to get worse before it gets better. Honest, hard-working people like myself, that paid our taxes (and still do) into the system, are not getting a fair return on our investment.
I have made several attempts to notify your office, the Lt Governor, other politicains in the state and management at the Kansas Health Policy Authority, about a plan that would fund Kansas Medicaid entirely and put people back to work. The response I've had from Topeka is.... Silence! No one wants to talk about the problems and the possible solutions. The nursing home lobbyists and other lobbying groups against Medicaid reform, have all of Topeka in their back pockets.
I would love the opportunity to speak with you and/or the LT Gov about a plan that would fund Kansas Medicaid well into the future, without any majoer opposition. Are you interested?
Sincerely,
Gary A. Carson

Mr Carson, please do not bother the Governer. He is not listeneing. He thinks he hears only God. He is praying with Gov Hair of Texas that 2,000 Boeing employees will not show up at the polls next election.

Or, worse for him after this, they will show up. Then he'll have something to be outraged about.

Brownback is no Christian. He uses religion to strengthen his career at the expense of the weak. He will be remembered as a pathetic, self-serving failure .

I suggest you start with your Kansas Representative. To think every person in Kansas should be able to meet with our Gov. is not realistic. Individuals who think they have solutions to government problems sound like crack pots. Let your rep see if your plan is reasonable and go from there. My rep, Paul Davis, is great. Paul answers emails and follows through on his word.

Thanks for the suggestion Larry, but my representatives won't respond to my emails, phone calls and or letters. I've found a loophole that would send Kansas back to the stone-age and after contacting them about it and getting no respone, I am filing a Federal civil rights complaint with the US Attorney. I have done it all... But no one in Topeka really cares to answer me. Now if I had $100,000 to put into someones campaign, I'm sure they would respond to me right away. But since I'm on SSDI and can barely afford to survive, I look to people like you and/or other resources to get my word out. I am currently fighting Kansas on my client obligation and have asked for a formal hearing. The Whole Person came to my aid and have said that they would gladly assist me in getting what I feel I deserve. The difference between me and most other persons like myself, is that i won't go away and I'll keep asking questions. I've even have some media contacts that are looking into the allegations I've made. The average Kansan that is not disabled, has no idea where there tax money iis headed and how it's being used. I'm doing my best to inform them. I've even gone to Kevin Yoder and asked for his assistance in this matter... I have yet to receive anything concrete from his office, but one of these days, plan to show up at one of his local appearences and start asking questions with the media present. I've found that their are only two ways to get the attention of those in Topeka... Either money or media!
