Safety Net Clinic Week

Lawrence, Kansas - August 9th through the 15th will be the 2015 Safety Net Clinic Week. Governor Sam Brownback signed the proclamation on July 23rd.

There are approximately 359,000 Kansans who are uninsured. Douglas County has an estimated 14,000 residents who are without health insurance. In 2014, Kansas “safety net” clinics provided comprehensive primary care to more than 200,000 people, regardless of their ability to pay. Locally, during this same time period, Health Care Access provided health care services to over 7,000 visits to more than 1,700 patients. 100% of the these patients had no health insurance and had an income of less than 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.
