Health Care Access joining #GivingTuesday movement
- on November 24, 2015
Health Care Access has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. HCA is aiming to raise $1,250 to provide over 50 clinic visits to individuals who can't be seen anywhere else due to income. Occurring this year on Dec. 1, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the United States) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in meaningful ways to the charities and causes they support.
HCA joined the #GivingTuesday in 2014 in an effort to reach audiences unaware of our mission. This year we plan to do the same and raise a larger amount so we can provide more clinic visits and year-round care in 2016. HCA is a United Way of Douglas County partner.
Health Care Access, a low-cost clinic in Douglas County, since 1988 has been a welcoming health home for persons with limited financial means. The clinic has conceptualized #GivingTuesday as a new way of linking individuals and causes to strengthen communities and encourage giving.
