About Our Local Food – Kaw River Valley

Looking for Local? Start with us! Our Local Food – Kaw River Valley is a program of the Kansas Rural Center, with support from the Kansas Department of Agriculture.

Our "brand" or logo signifies that the product you are buying was grown here in the Kaw River Valley, or was made with foods grown here. When you purchase foods from Kaw River Valley farmers, and support businesses who do, you are voting with your food dollars, growing our local economy and supporting our family farms that you know and trust.

The Kaw River Valley region comprises 10 counties along the river: Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Atchison, Douglas, Jackson, Shawnee, Riley, Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee. Farms in counties outside our foodshed, such as in neighboring counties, may participate in Our Local Food if the majority of their products are sold here in the river valley region.
