Summer isn't over and we at The Salvation Army are already thinking, planning and preparing for the 2010 Christmas Red Kettle Campaign. We are hoping to get you thinking about the holiday season as well. The red kettles hit the streets of Lawrence on November 12th and the campaign runs through Christmas Eve, December 24th. This is where you come in. The Salvation Army has to raise $105,000. through the kettles this year and the more volunteers that get involved the more of that money that can be used directly to help our neighbors in need throughout Douglas County.
We are registering groups and individuals to volunteer at least two hours of their time to ring the bell at one of our twenty kettle locations in Lawrence. Signing-up now assures that you have a greater chance of getting the day, date and time that works best for you or your group. Think of all of the different organizations that you are a part of: family, church, school, business, clubs, teams, all of which could volunteer time to make the holidays and the rest of the year better and brighter for young and old alike, for the hungry, the homeless, the unemployed, the impovrished and the struggling. But we need you to act early. Don't wait until November and December to volunteer. Help us fill our kettle calendar today. The Lawrence Rotary Club has already selected dates to volunteer. Don't miss your opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself. This coming holiday season give the gift of time to others.
Your time is valuable, volunteer today!
