Cool Running has nine week training program to get you from your couch to running a 5K.

In the article they state: "You should ease into your running program gradually. In fact, the beginners' program we outline here is less of a running regimen than a walking and jogging program. The idea is to transform you from couch potato to runner, getting you running three miles (or 5K) on a regular basis in just two months."

This Saturday (8/7/10) will be exactly nine weeks before the Nash Dash. This is the perfect opportunity to get active and celebrate with the community. So get registered and let the training begin! And please tell us how you're doing along the way.

Thanks, Cindy! I just bookmarked the plan, and will get started next week. I bike and do weight classes, but want to run. I have run, and have made it up to 3 miles, but give up because I push too fast, wear myself out, and then it becomes a chore. And running outside at this time of year....blech. 20 minutes before dawn even when it's hot & humid is doable, though.

Awesome Jane! I did a "Couch to 5K" program several years back (before the two kiddos) and really enjoyed it! Some co-workers and I even started doing 5K races like the Nash Dash as a fun group outings. We weren't serious runners, but really enjoyed being active, and being outside, and of course getting to have a great meal after the race. Please keep us posted on how the training goes!
