Chronic disease management workshop to begin June 2

Americorps members from Heartland Community Health Center will host a free seven-week workshop focused on equipping individuals who are managing chronic conditions. The group will meet at the Community Health Building (200 Maine St.) from noon to 2:30 PM on seven consecutive Tuesdays beginning June 2. This workshop is ideally suited for individuals with conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain, anxiety, and other chronic illnesses.

The workshop will offer participants a support group, practical ways to deal with pain and fatigue, information about how diet, exercise, and new treatment choices can impact their condition, and ways to talk to their doctor and family about their health. Participants will also receive assistance setting goals and creating a step-by-step plan to improve their health.
