Headquarters Counseling Center is seeking nominations for its 2012 Life Saver Award, which honors a Douglas County resident who has made a difference in the life or lives of others in crisis.
“We know from our callers that one caring and dependable person can make a big difference,” said Marcia Epstein, executive director of Headquarters. The center supports adults and children in crisis or need of emotional support through counseling, education and on-site response after emergencies and traumas.
Last year’s recipient was Angel Morris, mother of former Kansas University men’s basketball players Markieff and Marcus Morris. She was honored for her selfless actions to help others, most notably former KU basketball player Thomas Robinson and his younger sister, Jayla, as they grieved the death of their mother.
The deadline for this year’s nominations is Sept. 7. To nominate someone, write a letter and email it to Marcia@headquarterscounselingcenter.org or send it to Headquarters Counseling Center, 211 E. Eighth St., Lawrence, 66044.
The recipient will be recognized at the Life Support Refresher, a cocktail party and fundraiser, which will be from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Carnegie Building, 200 W. Ninth St.
For more information, call the center at 841-9900.
