Kansas City to honor cancer survivors with rally on Sunday

I think it would be neat if Lawrence had a rally to celebrate cancer survivors like this one in Kansas City:

The 25th annual Celebration of Life rally will be at 1 p.m. Sunday — National Cancer Survivors Day — in Bloch Cancer Survivors Park, 48th Street and Roanoke Parkway. The Marching Cobras will kick off the FREE event.

Survivors will be able to pose for free photo portraits, enter drawings for prizes, and visit exhibits put on by dozens of cancer treatment and support organizations. Massage therapy students will offer free chair massages, and a personal fitness trainer will have demonstration sessions for past and present cancer patients. The musical duo Calypso Bluz will perform their island melodies, and cake will be served.

Annette Bloch, president and co-founder of the R.A. Bloch Cancer Foundation, will present the fifth annual Richard A. Bloch Cancer Survivorship Award to Len Dawson, legendary Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, sportscaster and a 19-year survivor of prostate cancer.
