At 7:15 a.m., Steve Harris, who works at KU's west campus, was munching on fruit and talking with The World Company's Randy Erickson to celebrate Bike-to-Work Day.
There's quite a spread on the sidewalk in front of Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop. I'm typing this in at 7:45 a.m., so you bike commuters out there.....stop off for coffee, a chat and a congratulations for biking to work!

Biked to work. Missed the rain. Found the breakfast. I'd say that's 3-for-3 for me!

Thanks for organizing and providing the great breakfast! I have to admit, it was a great incentive to get there early ahead of the rain. It was very nice to get a chance to chat with fellow bicyclists, too.

Those are great photos on Facebook, Jessica. Did you take them?

Thanks! You can see some of the photos in print on the back of this morning's sports section, too.

The photos on Facebook are good, but it's a shame that none (or little, if there was any) of your build up to the week emphasized wearing a helmet. Too many of the people in your photos were not wearing helmets.
jessicaschilling (Jessica Schilling) replies…
Of the folks who stopped by for a bite to eat, the majority of them rode up wearing helmets - it's just kind of tough to eat with a helmet on, so a lot of helmets perched on handlebars and backpacks while their owners had breakfast.

I hope all your employers have shower facilities. PHEW! I don't want to work near a biker.
