Bert Nash to recognize pioneers in mental health during Monday event

The Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center will have its annual Pioneer Celebration from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 23, at Maceli’s, 1031 N.H.
The event is free and open to the public. The center will recognize volunteers and community leaders for their contributions to the center. Among the honorees will be Douglas County Commissioners Jim Flory, Mike Gaughan and Nancy Thellman and County Administrator Craig Weinaug.
The Sandra Shaw Spirit award, which is given to an outstanding member of Bert Nash, will be given to Stephanie Shelley, financial manager, and Joe Harris, community support services receptionist.
As part of the program, a variety of community partners will talk about their work with Bert Nash to advance mental health in Douglas County. Among them: Dr. Scott Robinson, medical director of the LMH Emergency Department; Don Grosdidier, superintendent of Schools in Eudora; and Diana Frederick, executive director of Douglas County CASA.
