The state of Kansas announced this afternoon that it has received five proposals from companies to coordinate care of Kansans receiving Medicaid services.
Three will be chosen to participate in the state's new Medicaid system called KanCare.
The companies are:
• WellCare of Kansas — Tampa, Fla.
• Sunflower State Health Plan — Topeka.
• United Health Care — Minneapolis, Minn.
• Coventry Health Care of Kansas— Wichita.
• Amerigroup — Virginia Beach, Va.
“We are encouraged by such broad interest and quality bidders. We look forward to improving the health outcomes of Kansans with our transformed Medicaid program,” said Kansas Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer in a news release.
The state will evaluate each of the bids, then move on to contract negotiations.
