The Color Run motto is to have fun and run, no matter what “age, shape, size, or speed” a person may be. Throughout the run, brightly colored corn starch will be sprayed upon the runners when certain zones are reached. What could be more fun than joining your fellow Lawrence neighbors for a tie-dye color frenzy?

As of the morning on August 28, 2012, over 3000 people have already signed up for the Color Run in Lawrence and the Lawrence Sports Corporation is projecting 9,000. So sign up now to save yourself a spot.

Bob Sanner, who is helping set up the event, through the Lawrence Sports Corporation of the LCVB, is “hoping the city of Lawrence is really excited to participate. The owners of The Color Run usually choose cities of 1 million or greater, but Lawrence is 92,000; this type of honor is unheard of.”

The race will be held October 6, 2012 at 4pm, around the downtown Lawrence area of 9th and New Hampshire. Sanner also says that, “typically The Color Run locations are in out of the way locations or in industrial parks. The route that has been established for Lawrence is safe and secure. The event will be well organized and managed." In Lawrence, The Color Run won’t be on the outside of town—it is located in all the action of the downtown area. Pre and post-race opportunities are being set up now.

Come alone or join with a team, no matter what you will be in for an exciting time!

Remember, there are only 3 rules:

• Everyone is welcome!

• You need a white shirt and be ready to run at 4pm!

• Be completely color covered at the end!

I usually run for charity causes I can support. What does the money go to in this case?

Yes, but do they tell you HOW MUCH they donate?

This sounds like a blast!

I too would like to know what percent of the registration fee goes to the Assists Foundation.

I contacted Erin Zimney, the Executive Director of the Assists Foundation, and she told me that she did not know the answer to how much is donated. So she is contacting someone within The Color Run to find out. As soon as she knows the answer, I will update everyone.
