Tomorrow will be the first full day of classes for West Junior High students. Seventh graders started today, but our soon to be ninth grade Gardeners are starting tomorrow! We are so excited, thrilled, anxious, and ready for the produce to be used in the cafeteria.
Tomorrow, the 12th, we will have a fun get together outside of the Garden. A local band, Colony Collapse, will be playing live music. Their music is inspired by Colony Collapse Disorder and the lives of honey bees. All of our student Gardeners will be there ready to give tours to the students and shoppers of the Market. We will open at 3, just in time for the students to get out of school! Refreshments including iced tea and cucumber water will be available as well as baked goods.
This is a big day for our Garden! The cafeteria staff at West is incredibly supportive of our project and cannot wait to feed the students their local produce!
Our Markets will cut back to only Thursday from 4-6 since our Monday harvest will go into the cafeteria.
I cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow at West!
