Remember last year, about this time, we introduced you to these 6 West Students?
They were the bright and shiny Student Gardeners from the 2010 season. These students worked so hard to tend the Garden throughout the whole season, sell produce, have fun, learn, and earn some spending money for their bank accounts. These six students were treated as any other Merc employees with trainings, discounts on their food, and pay checks every other Friday.
Well, let me introduce you to our new crop.
See any familiar faces? TJ Everett, in front, and Karen Schneck, on far Right, are our Mentor Gardeners. After our wrap up our 2010 season on December 1, we opened up 2 more positions for the existing Gardeners to apply for. TJ and Karen proved their dedication, knowledge, and passion and stayed on for another year.
As for new hires, (from left to right) we have Abby, Hayley and Colin. Colin applied for the position last year, but was unfortunately slightly too young to hire. He proved his dedication by volunteering the entire season and we are very happy he will be a on board as a paid employee this year.
With a slightly smaller crew, we are very excited to have a more productive and effient second season with our growing project!
