If you have been into The Merc over the weekend, you probably noticed a new addition to the front window. We have set up our Giving Garden to get our two new gardens at Hillcrest and Sunset Hill all of the shovels, straw bales, tomato cages, hoses, and general equipment they need.
The idea is to take one of the seed packets from the wall with the item you want to donate, write your name, and "plant it" in the garden. Once all of the seed packets have been planted, all of our amazing shoppers and supporters have agreed to buy everything for the West, Sunset Hill, and Hillcrest Gardens.
There are some larger items on the wall this year. We need donations for establishing irrigation systems, buying rain barrels, and matching a grant application for five barrel composters. We also have small items like $7 donations for straw bales, gardening gloves, watering wands, and shovels.
You can show your support three ways.
- Come into the store, pick out your donation, plant it, and drop off your donation at The Merc by April 30.
- Can't make it into The Merc? Email me, Lily, at lily@themerc.coop with what you would like to contribute and I will fill out your packet for you. Bring in your donation to The Merc by April 30.
- Make cash or check donations, payable to CMEF and mail to 901 Iowa St, Lawrence Kansas, 66044 attn: Nancy or drop in our class registration box. All donations are tax-deductable.
We had TWO amazing workdays on Saturday! Full of wonderful volunteers and amazing progress. More updates and pictures to come.
