The grassy area next to the West Garden is now the proud home to seven apple trees and two pear trees. We had a great day on Saturday planting the trees, golden raspberries and gooseberries. Next Saturday, we will finish up our fruits with blackberries and red raspberries from 12-4pm. Volunteers are more than welcome!
We have been busy harvesting away, we've already harvested over 40 pounds of radishes, lettuce, and salad mix! We love hearing how enthusiastic the students at West are to be eating their Garden produce. Second helpings of greens AND radishes!
We sold 50 heads of lettuce and 10 bunches of radishes to The Merc and took a visit to check them out in action.
After a hard day of pulling Bermuda grass in the Hillcrest Garden, the students definitely needed a treat like seeing these beauties fly off the shelf.
We've been spending our last few workdays doing some serious weeding and I hope to announce a completely weed-free Growing Food, Growing Health project soon with lots of pictures of our beautiful gardens.
