We are approaching our Growing Food, Growing Health Community Dinner On January 28. From 6-7:30pm in the West Middle School Cafeteria, we will be celebrating a successful year with our three school gardens. Let me formally extend an invitation to each and every one of you to feast on this seasonally delicious menu:
- Sweet Potato and Black Bean Burritos (made with West and Sunset Hill Sweets)
- Herbed Grain Pilaf with West Garden Herbs
- Salad of locally grown greens
- Fair trade tea and coffee and local Iwig Dairy Milk
- A selection of locally made desserts from area chefs/bakers
Besides the food, we will be enjoying live music, a slideshow of our three school gardens, and presentations from our Student Gardeners. Last year the room was packed, the food was delicious, and the entire evening was a heart-warming extravaganza. We are looking forward to another celebration of the beautiful produce, knowledge, and inspiration that was sprouted, grown, and gathered in the gardens!
Tickets are $8 for an adult, $5 for a child ages 5-10, and free for children under 5. You can purchase your tickets at the Customer Service Desk at The Merc or at the door the night of the dinner.
