Community Breakfast celebrating Older Americans Month is coming up!

Trinity In-Home Care will host the seventh Annual Community Breakfast celebrating Older Americans Month on Friday, May 2, 2014.

The event is free of charge and will take place from 7:30am-9:00am at Maceli’s, 1031 New Hampshire. Donations will be accepted. Reservations may be made by contacting Trinity In-Home Care at 842-3159 or megan@tihc.org by Wed. April 30.

Recognized at the breakfast will be the 2014 recipients of the Inspirata Award, Dr. Phillip and Phoebe Godwin. The Godwins are long-time Douglas County residents. Dr. Godwin is a graduate of KU Med, where he was a student when he met Phoebe who was in nurses training in Wichita. After marrying in 1951, Phoebe worked for a time at Lawrence Memorial Hospital to help put Phil through medical school. After school, the Godwins settled in Lawrence, where Phil helped to establish Lawrence Family Practice Center where his 43-year career included family practice and an anesthesia practice. Phil and Phoebe have three children, Gregory, Amy and Andrew. Over the years, Phil and Phoebe have exhibited great generosity with their time, talents and treasure throughout the community, to a wide variety of organizations.

The Inspirata Award is given to older community members in Douglas County to recognize and honor their display of compassion, effective leadership and service to others in the community.
