Running Out of Footprints

Please join us on Friday, April 25 from 2:00-3:30 pm at the Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vermont Street, for a “Just Do It!” workshop on organizing family mementos and a book reading by Cathy Callen, author of Running out of Footprints.

Do you keep running across drawers or boxes full of unidentified family photographs you’ve been meaning to organize and attempt to label? Do you have stacks of old letter and documents you know you should transcribe for posterity but keep assigning the task to some unknown point in the future? Author Cathy Callen will talk about how she managed to take control of her inherited photos, letters and documents and how she organized those mementos and recorded them in her book, Running out of Footprints.

Cathy’s presentation will include photographs, examples of completed projects and an audience-participation exercise. Refreshments will be served, and Cathy will be available following the presentation to sign copies of her book.

Cathy Callen is a retired educator with an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas and a master’s degree from the University of Kansas. She has poems published in Washburn University’s literary magazine Inscape, and in Tallgrass Voices, a publication of the Kansas Authors Club. She also has had articles published in Connections, a publication of the Indiana Historical Society as well as in UUWorld, the national journal for the Unitarian Universalist Association. Running out of Footprints is her first book and is available for sale at The Raven book store in Lawrence and also available for checkout at the Lawrence Public Library.

Please call Douglas County Senior Services, Inc at (785) 842-0543 to register for this free presentation.
