- on May 31, 2012
Allen Press employees know that food helps to get people's attention. Especially, food that fights cancer. The Relay for Life team sponsored a food day featuring foods with cancer-fighting ingredients to raise funds and awareness.
Over 50 employees attended a pot luck luncheon this week with each dish including at least one of the following food substances, all of which show promise as cancer-fighting agents.
Fruits: oranges, grapefruit, grapes, papayas, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, tomatoes
Vegetables: carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, romaine leaves, beans, peas, peanuts, asparagus, figs, avocados, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, cabbage
Spices: garlic, ginger, tumeric, curcumin, rosemary
Tea: Iced tea offers cool refreshment in the summer!
Vitamin D: milk, cod, shrimp, salmon, eggs...
The message from the Allen Press Relay for Life team is simple. "There is mounting evidence that shows that the foods we eat weigh heavily in the war against cancer. The easiest, least-expensive way to reduce your risk for cancer is just by eating a healthy diet!"
