Chrissie Wellington, British tri-athlete and Ironman world champion for 2007, 2008 and 2009, has made plans to attend this year's "World's Largest Community Workout" produced by LiveWell Lawrence. If you'd like to meet a world-renowned fitness hero, here's your opportunity. After participating in Ironman Kansas 70.3, her first triathlon of the season, Chrissie will be "staying around in Lawrence for a few days" to take part in this year's workout.
Having attended a Red Dog Days workout while visiting Lawrence for last year's Kansas Ironman, Chrissie was inspired by Don and Bev Gardner's selfless commitment to both fitness and community, and though she was not able to attend last year's LiveWell workout (quite understandably), she garnered much attention for it by posting the related Journal-World news story and photo to her blog, adding, "I think this is an awesome awesome idea and maybe in 2010 we could have a simultaneous community workout in every town and city across the world! I couldnt think of a better way to raise the profile of healthy living and sport-for-all!"
