For those who voted 'NO", you do know that you're going to continue to fund healthcare for those who don't have healthcare coverage, right? Also, passing the individual mandate will help to keep insurance premiums in check for a while. I for one am in favor of everyone having some level of coverage because it is good for them, good for me and good for the government and the insurance industry. Everyone wins! So, why are you opposed to it, besides the argument against big brother?
Exactly. We all pay for health care for many of the uninsured who seek health care only when they are sick and thus get more expensive care in emergency departments and hospitals. We pay higher insurance premiums and higher out of pocket expenses to cover the care that winds up getting subsidized for the uninsured.
I suggest that if you don't want health insurance, be prepared to pay full price for your health care expenses.
Rather than "unsure," "single payer" should have been the third option here.
