Rolling Along: Look out below!
Ah, yes, I know Peterson. That's a bit of a bump.
And I've only driven up E1000 Rd. I'll have to give it a go on a bike.
You'll have to let me know what you think of Mt. Fifth Street. I'm curious if it's as bad as it seemed, or if I'm still illness-weak.

Rolling Along: Halo there, moonbow
Yes, it was Friday night/Saturday morning, about 1:30 a.m.
At that time, the moon was almost directly overhead, slightly south. Orion was just east, Jupiter just west.

Confessions of a crackhead
Sort of, but it seems it's Rotary's show to run now.
There might be some installation funds with which we'll be helping.

On the hook for a rack; who's with me?
Friday, I found out RideLawrence does want to provide a rack for the clinic. So ... I'm going to wait to make sure the Rotary board agrees to pay for the rack. If something happens and that doesn't work out, I'll proceed with my plan. Otherwise, I'll rejoice in the fact that HCA is going to get its rack.
Thanks for all who offered to help. If the Rotary thing falls through, I'll be in touch about collecting.
I'll try to keep everybody up to date on what's going on.
Thanks again for all your generosity, and thanks to RideLawrence.

Thanks, Dan.
I just might be hitting you up.
And ... I'd love for it to grow legs. I can't wait to see how this first one turns out.
Drew.

Road Rage Incident July 15
Here's what was sent to me:
"6:00 p.m. Thursday evening we journeyed out on our vomit comet group ride with the Lawrence bicycle club. Out on E. 1400 Road and approximately 2.5 miles south of the 31st and Louisiana intersection the group was approached by a passing vehicle. Supposedly some words were exchanged. The driver said something to the effect "Single file or somebody is going to get killed." I was at the very front of the group and assumed everybody was single file behind me. Somebody then yelled at me to "Watch out" and that's when I saw the approaching vehicle getting nearer to me. At first I thought it was another cyclist trying to pass me but thought it strange he would pass me so close. That's when I realized it was a vehicle. I thought it was a SUV as the vehicle was so close that I was looking down on the hood. I couldn't figure out why the vehicle was so near but realized I needed to take evasive action. So I tried my best to get off the road. He then hit me and out of natural race cyclist instinct I leaned into the vehicle to keep my balance. Then I lost my balance and went down. Apparently the vehicle was a dark colored Ford F-150 with a handicapped plate. I was with 6 other people and nobody got a plate number. The area was searched by the Douglas County Sheriff's department but nobody was found with that description. The truck is either black or dark charcoal colored. I ended up with lots of road rash and damage to my bike and equipment. I am very lucky it wasn't worse."
