I came to Lawrence for college and three degrees later, I have never left. I taught high school English for a number of years and then I took that left turn at Albuqurque. Now I work in health care construction. Life takes us where it will!

I am the proud mother of one bouncing baby boy, Johnny, born on August 31, 2009.

Zabel earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1988. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at Duke University Medical Center. Zabel is a clinical associate professor at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine. He has done a variety of research on heart disease and treatments.
