Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association, LMHEA, will host an open house Oct. 30 from 4:30p.m.-6:30 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for the recently renovated second-floor north wing. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held in the west lobby on the main floor. Appetizers and refreshments will be served and tours of the second floor medical unit will be given following the program.
The $2.1 million project began in March and completed in October. The new space will be used for acutely ill patients and all 28 rooms will be private, replacing the semi-private rooms. Every room will have sleeper sofas and chairs for patient visitors.
The hospitality lounge has been named The Barteldes Family Hospitality Lounge and will provide internet access, television and other amenities. Chris Barteldes made a generous gift to LMH in honor of his late parents, Ben and Toddy Barteldes.
“We are all very grateful for the support from our community that enables us to give our patients quality care and also provide the family with a comfortable environment.” said Deb Rector, Director of 2 North Medical Unit. Parts of the renovation cost were off-set by the LMH Endowment Associations seventh biennial Hearts of Gold Ball this past May which raised $350,000, surpassing its goal by $100,000. Each Hearts of Gold Ball contributes to a specific hospital need.
