LMH would like to thank the community for their response to the blood shortage in our area! Friday's blood drive with Community Blood Center was an amazing success! We had a record collection of 101 units with 18 donors giving through apheresis (double units)!

Faith Nilhas, MLS (ASCP), LMH Blood Bank Supervisor, commented, "Thank you so much to everyone for your great response to the critical need for blood. We could not be more pleased so many came to our aid and replenished our supply!" Mark your calendars, the next blood drive will be November 2nd!

LMH's LouAnn Baumchen gives via the Apheresis Machine, which separates the plasma & platelets and returns the rest back to the donor. This process takes longer but the donor can give more often.

Kansas school officials are preparing for new costs associated with implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The new fees and insurance coverage requirements are expected to hit all employers of more than 50 people to some degree, but smaller, rural school districts are struggling to figure out how they can afford to make it all work.
